Dramatic Coastal Statement - Cornwall

The Brief

The owners of this beautiful beachside property had recently decided to transform their holiday home into their full-time residence, embarking on a full-scale renovation project to create a luxurious beachside property in Cornwall.

The kitchen was relocated into the space previously used as the lounge, creating a large dining, cooking and entertaining space that made the most of the room’s expansive views of the bay.

The owners were looking for a way to enhance the kitchen’s sleek and understated modern aesthetic, while also incorporating the property’s stunning views. The focus was a large statement piece that would capture the beauty of Cornwall and the statuesque pines on the hills around the property.

Our Solution

We worked with designers Now Kitchens and the homeowners to create a unique statement glass piece that would serve as the centrepiece of the kitchen, spanning almost 4 metres across the front of the central island feature.

Dusk on the Water from our Earth Collection was chosen for its fresh palette of ocean blues – reflecting the property’s gorgeous ocean views.

The width of the glass meant we actually installed two panels, with the artwork flowing seamlessly across the two pieces to create the impression of one large panel. The owners needed space for plug sockets on the front of the island, so socket cutouts were added before the glass toughening process took place.

We also installed two other large pieces of glass in the room, which featured our ever-popular Inch by Inch design in monochrome on a satin finish glass, tying the whole scheme together.

The Outcome

This stunning kitchen quickly became an award-winning kitchen, winning the National KBB Focus Award for ‘Best Installation’. The breathtaking space was impactful, elegant and very much in keeping with the owner’s personality and the surrounding landscape.
