Here at Red Dog HQ, we’ve bounded into 2020 full of energy with some really exciting possibilities on the go for our unique glass splashback designs—lots of R&D going on!—and thought we’d share some new year headlines with you. Sally’s been taking some time to plan and decide where the focus needs to be as she balances her own art practice with getting the Red Dog word out. 2019 has seen some fantastic placements of our bespoke glass splashbacks in some top London showrooms. This year we want to make the most of this exposure and spread the word. It’s a real challenge trying to drive all the new ideas whilst finding focus to do them all justice.
All new things that happen with Red Dog begin with Sally’s own art practice, and this development is really exciting_ she received great news that she’s landed the Arts Council funding for her Augmented Reality project we wrote about in the last post. Production kicks off any day, so watch this space for news as that brilliant project unfolds.
Sally’s brain gets excited with R&D and identifying new innovative paths for Red Dog, so alongside exploring AR, this year she’ll be looking into intelligent glass and backlighting technologies, to see how we might create new editions for our existing collections.
Last year amongst beautiful showrooms in London we had such huge interest in our desaturated designs, so have just released a new Monochrome series – more about that in a couple of weeks as we go out on the road with some rather beautiful samples.
Number one priority this Quarter is to focus on raising awareness of Red Dog Glass Design across the South West region. Sally says_
I’ve discovered so many Kitchen designers, Interior Designers, Architects and Bathroom designers I would like to speak to, meet with and show them my glass.
For me this is about raising awareness of my product. It’s not for everyone as the fine art glass is quite a statement piece, but when people get it, they really get it.
This year we would love to make new connections with designers and share features with key magazines or editorials – really great for both increasing our visibility and finding out what surprising collaborations lie in wait for us. Sally really valued her face to face meetings last year, where she’s been able to explain the stories behind the designs and show the glass samples – those conversations are great for understanding how Red Dog can best support and work with designers. So, this year, a great big hitlist of new dream connections!
Sally oversaw some lovely installations last year, and there are a number of conversations already underway for the coming weeks about new glass splashback orders.
So far it’s been amazing. I have had meetings most days and met some absolutely amazing designers. Opportunities have opened up that would never happened without me getting out there. I love this part of things – getting out to meet face to face always leaves me feeling hopeful and inspired.
Needless to say, we are all excited about what the next few months hold. We hope you have a brilliant year ahead, and look forward to sharing more news from along the way!
And if you would like to meet with Sally to talk design plans for 2020, do get in touch – she would be delighted to hear from you!
