Pantone Colour of the Year 2020 in Red Dog’s Revelation, In the Park and Boating glass splashback designs.

To start this year off, we’ve been pondering calmly with Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2020 — Classic Blue 19-4052 — and considering how our glass splashbacks might move with the growing trend that sees people moving away from monochromes that have been a feature of kitchen interior design for some time now. (Last year our most popular designs have been from our Meditation collection.)

A steady, reassuring, classic blue has been chosen by Pantone to guide our colour inspiration, at a time in society when they felt more ‘trust and faith’ was required. They talk of this hue being ‘elegant in its simplicity’ and ‘suggestive of the sky at dusk’:

Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.

What a perfect sentiment to build into the heart of the home. There are some beautiful ideas from Houzz on how you can incorporate Pantone’s colour of the year into your kitchen or bathroom, with use of clever colour accents in these reassuring blue interiors by way of chairs, plants, or a colourful row of books. We immediately thought how powerful a statement it would be to make that colour more permanent with a polished glass splashback, so collected our three favourite designs that would work perfectly in any kitchen or bathroom that’s taking a dive into the blue.

Whether you are a subtle colour person or you like to go bold, we found a few of our glass splashback designs work perfectly with Pantone’s Classic Blue – Revelation (Colourway no.2), In The Park, and Boating all feature this lovely deep, calming blue but all take it to completely different places. Have a look at our collections to explore what options there are.

Whether bold and vivid, offset by pure white counter tops, or picking up softer, pastel shades that feel like the outside summer sky gently making its way across your walls, perhaps one of these designs will help you make a splash with this year’s colour.
